In today's day and age it behooves a woman to make sure that any man she dates is disease and debt free. Professional men and women now are as likely to find a mate through unconventional methods as they are through established social networks. People meet through chat rooms, message boards and on-line dating services. People meet on vacation and have long distance romances that eventually lead to a serious commitment.
So, what are the new dating and relationship rules? I mean, I don't know, I’ve been pretty much out of the dating scene for the last 20 years. This electronic world of love has me so confused.
What types of hoops should your prospective partner jump through before entering your life on a more permanent basis? Of course, the STD test is pretty standard. Do you ask for a credit report? Do you have them provide you with personal references? Do you investigate your new love? I mean really, what is dropping a thousand bucks doing a little love leg work when you could be preventing a broken heart and an emptied bank account?
None of this sounds all too romantic but today's woman has money. She is successful; she may have a house or condo, a car, savings, stocks and retirement funds. Women do not spend 10 or 15 years cultivating a career and a portfolio just so some man of the moment can wipe them clean. Men have always been aware of the gold-digger, well ladies we have to be on our toes too. Nice suits, a car and dinners can all be put on credit, better make sure your prince has the all the royal gems before merging your kingdoms.
