I've just really fallen behind in this whole blogger business. Life has become increasingly hectic and I feel like it is all whizzing by me like blurred landscape. Do you ever get the feeling that you're merely a passsenger in your own life? You're just riding a train someone else is driving. Well, I've been feeling that way lately.
So let me begin my saga with my car. My 2003 Toyota Matrix has been making a terrible noise since October. I did the responsible thing and had it looked at but the mechanic could not find anything. I also had a full service in March - still nothing major found to be wrong. Well, a week ago Friday I was driving in Ajax and the clutch popped out of second gear and the engine started hacking and making these scary noises. I quickly parked in a strip mall lot and called CAA. I had the car towed to the local Toyota dealer. It goes without saying that I was pretty upset. How can something like this happen? At first I thought it was the clutch but the tow truck driver said the clutch was fine and that my description made it sound like a transmission problem. Well, he was right. When the tech at Toyota emptied the transmission of fluid, bits and pieces of the tranny tumbled out. Thankfully, all is under warrantee. Everyone I've spoken to has said this is very rare. Toyota transmissions last a long, long time and rarely, if ever need replacement prior to 100,000 kilometers. So, here it is 9 days later and I'm still driving a rental - provided by Toyota of course. The lease on my car is up June 6th. I'm looking for a replacement!
This blog posting isn't going to be very Rémy related. I have no pictures to post. :(. But I will tell you all that he is really starting to talk now and my fears about his speech and verbal skills are slowly fading. This week he said "wall", "bee" and "bat". He really get the "b" words. He loves this new book I brought back from Floriday called "I Can Do It" by Eric Carle, he's the same person who wrote "Brown, Bear, Brown Bear". Rémy loves to have us do the actions and we'll ask him to do the actions, like clap, nod his head, wave his arms in the air or stomp his foot. He loves that book. He's moved on from his Nemo fixation and now loves Ice Age and Monsters Inc, equally as much. Rémy has never been an overly demonstrative child. He's not clingy, nor does he play strange but he doesn't give out affection willy nilly either. Lately he's offering hugs and kisses a little more freely. Let me tell you, I'm loving it. It makes my heart sing when I come home and he hugs my leg and I kneel down and get a bigger hug and a kiss to boot. Kisses in the morning and kisses and waves goodbye. It just melts my heart.
We are still struggling with food. He just doesn't like vegetables and he doesn't like a lot of meats either. We keep trying. He only likes to eat one thing at a time too. Ham? Yes, he'll eat the ham. Mac 'n Cheese? Yes, he'll eat that. Ham, mac'n cheese? No way. He'll turn his nose up at the combo. Drives us batty sometimes. But I must admit this is small pototoes in the grande scheme of things. Life could have thrown us some bigger obstacles.
Ok, JC. I've updated my blog. I hope this brought a smile. :)
