Prepping for Cold Turkey Potty Training Goes On

While we are not really potty training, we are encouraging Rem to talk about and use the facilities. We ask him if he needs to go. We offer him the choice to use the facilities when we think he may have the need. He's in pull-ups now that help him realise when he's voided or had a BM. This is all in preparation for the July long weekend when we can do the, big boy underwear baptism.
Well, this was today's adventure in potty training prep.
Remy tells me he has to poop when we are going up the stairs. I'm in a hurry because it's after 8 and he needs to get to school and I need to start work. I just thought he was stalling because he was not putting out all his "I've got to poop" signals. But, I played along and we went to the bathroom. We get to the bathroom, I tell him to pull down his pants and I help him. Well, he’s already pooped and a big fat turd ended up on the floor, marking his leg up and soiling his sock. While I'm cleaning him and the bathroom up, he's gagging. And I'm thinking to myself, "that's right kid, that's what I've had to put up with for nearly 3 years."
Not fun. So now I have to clean him up, change his sox and put a new pull-up on him.
He thinks it is grand fun and takes the opportunity to run around the house sans a diaper.
Needless to say, he didn't get to school until 8:30.
